The New York Yankees were on the unfortunate side of Boston Red Sox starting pitcher Jon Lester‘s turning the corner on an otherwise forgetful season. Boston’s ace, has now won back-to-back games after a stretch with no wins in seven starts. He out-dueled David Phelps who was solid in his second effort as a fill-in for injured CC Sabathia. (more…)

Swisher leads homer-happy Yankees to 6-4 win over Red Sox

Well, if this week vs. the Texas Rangers was supposed to be a postseason preview for the New York Yankees, then the Bronx Bombers passed the test. Although they got disappointing pitching from Ivan Nova and the Yankees’ bullpen on Thursday, they were still able to win three of four from the Rangers. The reasons for that were because of their starting pitching, Derek Lowe, and opportune hitting from guys such as Nick Swisher. Now, with a little over six weeks to go, it’s time for the Yankees to pass another test and the next exam comes with a little twist of revenge.

Yankees enjoy return home, blast Red Sox 10-3

After suffering through a long road trip, winning only two of seven games, the New York Yankees were happy to be back in the Bronx last night for the first game of a three-game set with the Boston Red Sox. The ball was flying out of Yankee Stadium with each team hitting three homers, but the Yankees’ bombs came with runners on, putting them on the right side of the tally. (more…)

Yankees put seal on successful first-half with romp over Red Sox

The New York Yankees wrapped up the first-half of the season by beating the Boston Red Sox last night in the series finale of a four-game set. The Yankees won three out of the four games and put a strangle hold on the AL East lead in the process with a 7-3 victory over the Red Sox. (more…)
