Derek Jeter stormed out of the gate for the New York Yankees in 2012, hitting .389 in April in what seemed like a resurgence of one of the best players in Yankees history. However, he’s fallen back to Earth lately, hitting a meager .238 in June with only 4 extra-base hits. So what happened? Was he just getting lucky in April, or did something change in his approach? Top, Bottom Of Lineup Awful In Opener

The way their starting pitcher, closer and most of the lineup performed in Friday’s season opener perhaps it was amazing the Yankees even had a shot to beat the Rays. Along with a terrible start from CC Sabathia and a rare stinko thrown in from closer Mariano Rivera, most of the Yankee lineup was awful too.

Take away Robinson Cano and Alex Rodriguez’ 4-for-8 combined effort in the 3 and 4 holes and the Yankees just didn’t get the job done at the plate. At the top, 1-2 hitters Derek Jeter and Curtis Granderson were a combined 1-for-9 with a walk, with “Jetes” getting both positive results. Hitters 5-9 went a combined 4-for-20, with the main belt a three-run homer off Raul Ibanez’ bat.

Most troubling was the Yanks inability to score after the third inning, with six straight goose eggs going up on the board. ”Not good,” as comedian Jerry Seinfeld would say. “Not good.” Only this result wasn’t too funny.

The Post — who else? — has a “story” about how Derek Jeter ends his trysts — with signed memorabilia.

According to the “report”, Jeet defiles these women (I’m paraphrasing) and then has a car bring the broad home in the morning. However, she doesn’t go home empty handed, no, she gets a gift basket containing signed memorabilia by Captain (not paraphrasing). Isn’t that swell of him?

His maneuver came to light after he pulled the stunt on the same female twice. A “pal” said:
