Yanks Go Yard Recap: New York Yankees Beat Rays But Lose Granderson

It’s gotten to the point of ridiculousness, no? Just when the New York Yankees are getting positive injury news (more on that later), someone else has to go down with an injury. The New York Yankees beat the Tampa Bay Rays last night 9-3, but lost Curtis Granderson for at least one month with a broken pinkie knuckle, after he was hit by Cesar Ramos in the top of the fifth. Yankee starter David Phelps was also injured when a comebacker by Ben Zobrist hit him in the right forearm. Thankfully x-rays were negative and it is just a bruise. (more…)

When Curtis Granderson Returns, Who Goes?

Well fans, the return of Curtis Granderson is almost upon us. In the first game of Spring Training, Granderson was hit in the arm with a pitch from J.A. Happ. Granderson was diagnosed with a fractured forearm, and has been out of action ever since. Earlier today, the Scranton Wilkes-Barre Yankees announced that Granderson would begin playing rehab games with their team today. It wont be long until Granderson is back in the Bronx, but once he comes back, which New York Yankee will be forced to go? (more…)

Replacing Curtis Granderson: The Internal Options

Well, that was disappointing. With Curtis Granderson on the shelf for 10 weeks, maybe more, the Yankees will undoubtedly be looking to replace him. The 31-year-old outfielder was hit in the wrist from Toronto Blue Jays pitcher J.A. Happ and didn’t appear as though Granderson would miss any significant. However, an MRI later revealed he broke his forearm and now the Yankees are calmly scrambling to replace his production. Many have linked former Yankee, Alfonso Soriano, but is he the real answer for the Yankees? Let’s take a look at those who are already in camp and on the 40-man and see if there’s a better, more logical fit. (more…)
