If the New York Yankees are going to survive two to three starts without CC Sabathia and minimally six weeks without Andy Pettitte, they may need to jump on the back of the offense. The New York Yankees are finally done with Interleague Play and while they are the most successful team in the history of the format, they are welcoming a return to American League rules especially as their pitchers hitting in big situations does not help their season-long inability to hit with runners in scoring position. Beginning tonight at Yankee Stadium, the Bombers welcome the Cleveland Indians for a three-game series opening a seven-game homestand. (more…)

The Subway Series has come and gone as the Yankees used the home run ball to find a way to beat the New York Mets in two out of three games. The Bombers clearly wanted to make Mets’ closer Frank Francisco pay for calling them “chickens” earlier in the week. The Mets were very scrappy in the series with all of their base hits, particularly against C.C Sabathia, but it was home runs by Robinson Cano on Sunday and Raul Ibanez on Saturday that turned the series in the Yankees’ favor. Also, the bullpen for the Yankees gave them the edge, with the MVP of the pen being lefty Boone Logan. InterLeague Play is over and it is time to get back to American League Baseball!
