The Yankees And Double Standards

On the heels of the events of the last week or so I thought I’d take a look at how the Yankees and double standards have come into play in MLB.

The first thing that caught my attention was Rafael Soriano and Untuckgate. I couldn’t fathom how a guy who untucked his jersey after he recorded a save garnered so much attention from the media. Who cares if he does that? MSM does, I soon realized. He was vilified by baseball purists as a player who broke the sacred “unwritten rules” by showing up an opponent. OK, whatever. Manager Joe Girardi said he had his closer’s back and that it didn’t bother him, which seemed to quash the controversy. (more…)

Sabathia crumbles in seventh, Yankees lose to Reds 5-2

CC Sabathia has pitched and won many games in his career with little run support. It is what the aces of teams do. Yesterday afternoon, as the New York Yankees had just taken a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the sixth inning, Sabathia fell apart. (more…)

Reds-Yankees Podcast Preview

After the New York Yankees did not bring their bats on the short road trip to Baltimore and Toronto, they will return home for the first installment of interleague play against the Cincinnati Reds. I am a fan of interleague play because it gives American League fans a nice change of pace to see National League teams once in a while.
