There’s a lot of fight in this New York Yankees team. Maybe because they don’t have the All-Star lineup they used to have due to injury. Maybe it’s because they have guys that other organizations gave up on in Vernon Wells and Brennan Boesch. Whatever the reason, they fight til the end, but tonight they fell a little bit short, as the Yankees fell to Diamondbacks 6-2 in 12 innings. (more…)

A couple friends of mine and I discussed on twitter who the proper comparision is for Travis Hafner. Is it Raul Ibanez or Eric Chavez? I think at this point it may be a little too early for comparissons, however if he keeps this up, he’ll have a category all his own. Hafner came up with the game tied and promptly un-tied it with a huge solo blast to give the Yankees a 4-3 comeback victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks. (more…)

Well, Ivan Nova probably won’t be losing his spot in the rotation after this start. Nova kept the Yankees in the game, even though he had trouble in each inning and waited for the bats to come around and that’s exactly what happened. Nova went five innings giving up two runs, and the bullpen went four innings only giving up one hit as the Yankees beat the Arizona Diamondbacks in the opener of the series 4-2. (more…)

The Futility List: Bottom To Top – Ranking Week 1

The Futility List is all about that… futility. Sure, many another website will give you a nice and clean MLB team power rankings, listing the league from top to bottom, but I say those teams at the end need love too. So, we’ll start our list at the bottom! It’s not all about the breast… err, best team, you know!

Let’s put the face down and the bottoms up… wait, I’m mixing metaphors again… and let’s get to the first edition of THE FUTILITY LIST!

1. Washington Nationals (0-6)- If baseball were a bar, the Nats would be the guy in the corner with a drink in hand, standing alone, and sweating. Profusely.

2. New York Yankees (3-3) – Going .500 combined against the Baltimore Orioles and Kansas City Royals, two teams not expected to do much this season except watch the “real” franchises above them, is not a good way to get out of the gate. So with the expectation factor in mind, this ranking is about as right as two ugly lesbians being a couple.
