The New York Yankees were on the unfortunate side of Boston Red Sox starting pitcher Jon Lester‘s turning the corner on an otherwise forgetful season. Boston’s ace, has now won back-to-back games after a stretch with no wins in seven starts. He out-dueled David Phelps who was solid in his second effort as a fill-in for injured CC Sabathia. (more…)

Note to Yankee Pitching Staff. Gonzalez and Youkilis are Pretty Good

Red Sox first baseman Adrian Gonzalez is on fire at the plate in the month of May. For the month, he is batting .360 with 7 home runs and 16 RBIs, and there are still two weeks left in May. Bartolo Colon learned this last night after Gonzalez hit a bomb that still might be traveling through the New York sky line.

Pitching to Gonzalez right now is a dangerous task. I am not saying Gonzalez should be given Barry Bonds-like treatment all the time, but in certain situations, he can’t be pitched to. In the late innings of a close game with men on base, let him take a walk to first. (more…)

Pedro Feliciano a GREAT move by Yanks

Dwight Gooden… David Cone… what do these two have in common, besides the inability to control some of their basest urges? Both had great careers with the Mets, but went on to have the one shining moment of those careers in the Bronx. Coney’s perfecto and Doc’s no-no were both perfect cappers to great careers.

Well, add another very good Mets pitcher to the Yankees roster as Pedro Feliciano confirmed to ESPN that he’s indeed signing with the Yanks by saying “I think it was a good thing to stay in New York. I mean, that’s the best city in the States.” This is an EXCELLENT move for the Yankees in an off-season during which the best news for a Yankee happened when Nick Swisher tied the knot with actress/fiancee Joanna Garcia.

OK, well maybe Swish’s wasn’t the best news, but are you really gonna argue when it let me post a picture of Garcia?
