That is the question. The World Baseball Classic has become a major issue around baseball between players and team management. I’m sure owners around the league aren’t too happy about their investments risking their bodies for another team. It’s just a natural reaction that anyone in their position would feel. Imagine if your best player hurt himself playing in what is essentially an exhibition game. That team’s entire season could be drastically changed by an injury happening in a National team’s camp. Ahem, Mark Teixeira. Now, I’m not saying that he’s the Yankees best player. It’s clear that he’s not, but he was going to be heavily relied on for power with the injury of Granderson taking place. (more…)

Playing Brian Cashman is always fun. I have a trade proposal along with a steal of a free agent signing that the Yankees should pursue. It’s not new information that the Yankees are trying to reduce payroll. That may be on hold, but we’ll assume that plan is still intact. At the end of the season the Yankees have a dilemma. They’ll have a few expiring contracts to deal with, specifically Cano and Granderson. I’m sure at least one of them will be re-signed. That will most likely be Robinson Cano. Granderson on the on the other hand might have an off-season similar to Nick Swisher if the Yankees don’t trade him.

With the recent news of Alex Rodriguez allegedly taking performance enhancing drugs since admitting it in 2009, it seems that last October would be his last game as a Yankee. His poor post-season performance irked many Yankee fans. A Raul Ibanez pinch hit home run made a lot of us wonder if this was the end for A-Rod in a Yankees uniform. However when those of us who looked at this rationally we explained that it wouldn’t happen just yet. He still has a lot of time left on his contract and unless the Yankees paid for most of it, there were not a lot of options for a trade possibility.
Well, the end of the beginning of an era.” Nick Johnson is publicly known for his time on the disabled list. We all know that he has spent a significant amount of time there throughout his career. However, what many don’t know is he really helped changed the game. In our new era of baseball statistics and thinking, Johnson is perhaps a poster boy. He won’t give you a 7 WAR season, but he’d get your team nice value in his peak years. If you want to call them that.

Many of my Derek Jeter posts come off as if I’m bashing him. In no way do I mean to do that. It’s just at times Derek Jeter’s persona needs to be toned down. Some Yankee fan has to do it, right? For me perhaps the most annoying thing a Yankee fan does it talk about how well Derek Jeter plays defense. I’ve had this discussion with my friend countless of times. “Yo, c’mon! Derek Jeter man. IT’S DEREK JETAH. The greatest shortstop to ever play the game and he’s not a great defensive shortstop? He’s a five time Gold Glove Award winner! You’re crazy man.” I’ve had this discussion many times and those statements are always thrown out there. It’s time to reveal the truth about Derek Jeter and his defense.

You’ve had to have seen the postings of, “If George were still around he’d be a Yankee.” It gets to the point where everyone is talking like this is a video game. “Oh we should have traded for Felix instead of Pineda.” Well my friends, I’m sure if we could have done that we would have. The other general managers have common sense. They’re in that position for a reason. Also realize that the rest of the league is not a farm system for the Yankees to pick and choose the best players. Believe it or not, that’s not how it works.
