Check out the “Winners and Losers” from the Yankees weekend series with the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. The Yankees took two out of the three and received some nice performances from their lineup and bullpen. The Angels showcased two top young talents in Mike Trout and Mark Trumbo. What Are The Yankees Missing Without Brett Gardner?

Going into the All-Star break the Yankees sit atop the standings with the best record in baseball. They have done so despite enduring their fair share of key injuries. They have lost arguably the best closer of all-time in Mariano Rivera but were able to replace him with a proven closer in Rafael Soriano. The other major injury the team has endured is losing Brett Gardner for virtually the entire first-half. The Yankees have been able to replace a lot of Gardner’s productivity with Raul Ibanez and Andruw Jones but there is no way to replace all that Gardner does.

Why Did the Yankees Claim Darnell McDonald Off Waivers?

Wednesday, the New York Yankees claimed Darnell McDonald off waivers. McDonald has spent most of his career as a part-time outfielder for the rival Red Sox and the other half in the minors. His role, as a right-handed bat, has been as a platoon player against left-handed pitching. Most fans outside of New England might know him best for his recent Sports Center diving catch on a fly ball hit by Blue Jays 2B Kelly Johnson. Should The Yankees Trade For Matt Garza?

With the loss of CC Sabathia until after the All-Star break and Andy Pettitte out for at least 6 weeks, the Yankees are left with a lot of question marks in their rotation. Yankees General Manager Brian Cashman has already come out and said that the Yankees would “prefer not to go outside (the organization)” While I agree going outside the organization is not preferred when you’re the Yankees and the expectation is the World Series or bust than you must explore all your options and I believe Matt Garza to be the best option. A Yankee Look Back at Interleague Play and What Lies Ahead…

As the New York Yankees look to complete a sweep of the Cleveland Indians tonight let’s take a quick look back at their Interleague play in 2012 and examine the remaining schedule. Currently the team sits atop the AL East with a MLB best 45-28 record; largely due to how they performed against the NL. However, looking forward to the rest of the 1^st half and entire 2^ndhalf the Yankees have their work cut out for themselves if they expect to finish with the best record in baseball.

Why Has Andy Pettitte Been Successful In 2012?

After Andy Pettitte retired concluding the 2010 season, many believed the lefty still had some magic left in the tank. He finished an injury plagued season with an 11-3 record in only 21 starts and a 3.28 ERA. Pettitte’s injury, a strained left groin, was by no means career threatening, but the Yankee pitcher decided he was done and retired. However, after spending 2011 at home, the Yankee legend again had the “itch” to pitch and has thus far been the biggest surprise of the Yankees 2012 season. (more…)

Should David Robertson be the Yankees’ closer in 2012?

Rafael Soriano has been great since taking over as the Yankee closer. He has converted 12 out of 13 save opportunities and only given up three runs in the process. But, now that David Robertson is once again healthy should he be reinstated as the Yankee closer? (more…)
