After trading Andrew Miller and Aroldis Chapman, the Yankees are now officially in sell-mode and should be open to trading just about anyone on the roster.

Even after pulling off blockbuster trades for their two elite relievers, the New York Yankees have a number of intriguing trade chips remaining on their roster if they are willing to go into a full tear down. Without the three headed monster in their bullpen, the team has lost their only strong point in 2016.

There is no way the team can kid themselves that they are a contender any more. It’s time to explore trades for their remaining veteran assets. Here are some potential scenarios that could go down over the next 24 hours:

  • Yankees trade Carlos Beltran to the Texas Rangers for RHP Luis Ortiz . Ortiz is only 20 years old and already pitching for Texas’ Double A organization where he has shown good control of the ball, walking only seven batters with 34 strikeouts. He profiles as more of a number two starter but would be a great puck up by the Yankees considering Beltran is a free agent after this season.
  • Yankees trade Ivan Nova to the San Fransisco Giants for SS C.J HinojosaNova at this stage in his career is a number four or five starter that will eat innings but post a 4.50 ERA. The Yankees have been known as shopping Nova for quite some time as they would like to get some value in return before Nova leaves in free agency. The problem here is that Nova has little trade value and the Yankees would be getting a fringe prospect in Hinojosa back. He has a good bat but isn’t quite athletic enough to play defense at short and probably would be best moved to second or third base.
  • Yankees trade

Alright so this probably won’t happen but its pretty obvious that the Dodgers want to get rid of Puig and the Yankees have not been very thrilled about Pineda this year. Also the fact that C.C still has trade value after a couple of very disappointing seasons is saying something. The Dodgers have insisted highly touted prospect De Leon is off limits, but they might finally be desperate enough to move him as they are only a game back of the Giants and may be without

    Clayton Kershaw

the rest of the year. This would give LA a very formidable rotation of Maeda, Kazmir, Pineda, Sabathia, and McCarthy. Buehler is a former 2015 first round pick out of Vanderbilt, who has yet to throw a professional pitch for the Dodgers. Buehler and De leon would no doubt strengthen a Yankee farm system that lacks high end pitching prospects.

  • The Yankees trade Brian McCann to the Astros for RHP David Paulino and 3b Colin Moran. The Astros need catching help, with Jason Castro and Evan Gattis not doing much of anything. In this deal the Yankees would receive one of the Astros top pitching prospects in Paulino, who has 66 strikeouts and only 11 walks in AA with a 1.86 ERA. Moran was once a top pick for the Marlins but has no where to play in Houston. He could be a decent utility guy for the Yankees as he’s batting .260 in AAA .
  • In light of this weekend’s lack-luster performance and the trades they have already made, the Yankees now know they are sellers and should be looking to gain young, controllable talent as they look to the future.
