On this week’s episode of the Yanks Go Yard Radio Show, I started off the episode by talking about some of the latest Hot Stove rumors surrounding the New York Yankees. One of those rumors that I gave my thoughts on was the possibility of closer Andrew Miller being traded this winter.

Even though the San Diego Padres got four good prospects back for Craig Kimbrel, it would be tough for me to trade Miller because it would weaken one of the Yankees’ biggest strengths, which is the bullpen. If the front office is not going to go out and sign an elite pitcher, you have to keep the bullpen a primary strength with the trio of Justin Wilson, Dellin Betances, and Miller.

Plus, I gave my thoughts on Hal Steinbrenner’s comments in an article written by Ken Davidoff of the New York Post on Wednesday. One of the quotes that stood out to me was about James Kaprielian, who was taken 16th by the Yankees in last June’s Draft. Steinbrenner said that Kaprielian “hopefully we’ll see at the major league level as soon as the end of this season.” It will be interesting to watch Kaprielian’s progression through the minor league system in 2016 after having a good season for short-season Staten Island this year (three earned runs allowed in 21.1 innings).

After giving my thoughts on the award winners for Rookie Of The Year, Manager Of The Year, and Cy Young and why I disagreed with who ended up winning AL Manager of the Year, I spoke with Merritt Rholfing, the host of the Wahoo’s On First Podcast about the latest trade rumors involving the Indians and Brett Gardner. On Wednesday, Jon Paul Morosi of Fox Sports and MLB Network reported that New York was one of three teams, along with the Toronto Blue Jays and Los Angeles Dodgers, that were talking with Cleveland for one of their young starting pitchers.

Merritt and I discussed whether Gardner would be a fit to replace Michael Brantley, who will miss the start of the 2016 season because of shoulder surgery. Plus, what are Cleveland’s other offseason needs besides an outfielder and what did Merritt think of Francisco Lindor’s first season, even though Lindor lost in the Rookie of the Year voting to Houston Astros’ shortstop Carlos Correa.
