New York Yankees News: Jose De Paula Looking For A Shot

Thanks to Nathan Eovaldi‘s ineffective start this week, the Yankees went through their bullpen like people do their savings accounts in Vegas. Very quickly. The New York Yankees had to make a roster to give themselves a fresh arm out of the bullpen after Chris Capuano had to basically start for Eovaldi.

Jose Ramirez struggled in his time up in the majors again. The kid has ability and has good arm, it just seems like on the mound he is stressing way too much and has no idea where it’s going. (Kind of like Sam Dyson for the Marlins last night)

In Ramirez’s spot on the roster, the Yankees brought up young lefty Jose De Paula from AAA.

The Yankees signed De Paula last November to a free agent deal as a lefty who they thought could give them some AAA depth.

"“He’s a guy that can give us distance,” manager Joe Girardi said of De Paula. “He’s a guy that has some experience. He’s been starting down there. He’s stretched out. We’re without Cap for, you have to assume at least three days probably, we needed somebody who could give us some real distance.”"

De Paula will probably be sent down when Ivan Nova is ready to come back after his next rehab start, or if the Yankees want to add another arm to their bullpen. Maybe Danny Burawa who’s been lights out in AAA.

De Paula has what every kid wants. A spot on the big league roster. He just has to do his job when his name gets called.
