New York Yankees Game Recap: Bats Quiet As Yankees Fall In Miami
By Jason Evans
Masahiro Tanaka can only do so much. On a night when he clearly didn’t have his best stuff, he kept the team in the game. Tanaka gave up nine hits in his seven innings, one short of his career high.
On this night, Tom Koehler was just plain better than Tanaka was. The only run he gave up was a solo shot to Mark Teixeira to lead off the second, and it wasn’t enough as the New York Yankees fell to the Marlins, 2-1.
The only two other hits the Yankees had were by Didi Gregorius.
The Marlins would tie it in the bottom of the second when Derek Dietrich doubled with one out and scored on Adeiny Hechavarria singled him home.
Tanaka could have helped himself with the bat in the fifth with Gregorius on third but he struck out to end the threat.
