Yankees Game Recap: Power Gives CC First Win Of 2015
By Jason Evans
Back in the day, people used to say the Yankees hit too many homers and were to reliant on the homer. When they didn’t hit them they didn’t score. A few years later and a few more seasons without playoffs and no one cares anymore. The Yankees blasted five homers in their 11-5 win over the Rays.
Alex Rodriguez gave the Yankees a 1-0 lead in the first with a towering homer. The Rays came back off CC Sabathia in the bottom half on Logan Forsythe‘s double.
Then the power bats started up again. After two singles in the fourth, Chase Headley hit a three run bomb. Carlos Beltran followed it up next inning with a solo shot of his own.
With two outs in the sixth, Stephen Drew doubled and Didi Gregorius walked. Guess what happened next? Brett Gardner went yard.

In the seventh, Mark Teixeira doubled, went to third on a single and scored on a sac fly by Headley.
CC began to tire and gave up back to back homers to Forsythe and Joey Butler. After a strikeout, Asdrubal Cabrera would double, go to third on a error and scored on a sac fly. Forsythe would drive another run in with a sac fly in the eighth.
Tex would deliver some extra insurance with a two run homer in the ninth.
Game two of the series is tomorrow night at 710. Nathan Eovaldi will take on Rays’ ace Chris Archer.
