On last night’s episode of the Yanks Go Yard Radio Show, brought to you by KNODA.com, we started off the episode by taking a look back at the Spring Training that was. Yes, there were two games still left in the spring when we recorded this episode, but it gives us the opportunity to talk about the things that stood out over the last month or so in Tampa.

For the first part of the episode, I was joined by one of the co-editors at YGY, Jason Evans. We discussed the New York Yankees decision to send Rob Refsnyder down to triple-A, even with the DL stint to Brendan Ryan to start the season. Plus, we took a look at who might win the last couple Opening Day roster spots in the infield (Cole Figueroa vs. Gregorio Petit) and the backup catcher spot (John Ryan Murphy vs. Austin Romine).

Of course, there were some positives for the Yankees this spring as Masahiro Tanaka stayed healthy, Adam Warren was able to win the number five spot in the rotation, CC Sabathia’s velocity was up (even though the results weren’t great), and you could make the case that Alex Rodriguez was New York’s best offensive player this spring.

Jason and I also previewed the season to come, which includes the struggles from Dellin Betances and his correct prediction that manager Joe Girardi would not name a closer to start the season. We both stated that it would be interesting to see the leadoff 1-2 combo of Jacoby Ellsbury and Brett Gardner in a regular season game. Will it lead to more stolen bases for this offense?

In the second part of the episode, the other YGY co-editor, Michael Cambria, joined the show to help us make our 2015 predictions. The three of us each gave our division picks (from worst to last), wild card picks, ALCS and NLCS winners, as well as, the World Series champion. You will notice that two of us on the show had the exact same winner and World Series participants. Plus, you will hear who we all like for the individual awards such as Rookie Of The Year, Manager Of The Year, Cy Young, and MVP in each league.

We also want to remind you that tomorrow night at 8:00 PM ET, we will begin our fifth season of series preview shows. Shaun Doyle from Jays Journal and the host of The Jays Nest Podcast will join me to preview the opening series of the season between the Blue Jays and Yankees. We will also air an encore episode of the live show Sunday night, before the Cardinals-Cubs game on ESPN.
