Danny Burawa, Jose De Paula and Nick Rumbelow held the Astros to nothing after that.
The Yankees didn’t score at all until the sixth, when Ramon Flores hit a homer to left off Tony Sipp to make it 3-1. The Astros came back in the bottom half with Rumbelow on the mound. Nolan Fontana singled and scored on a double by Jason Castro.
The Yankees offense got to work in the eighth of Darin Downs. Jake Cave hit his first homer of the spring. Nick Noonan then followed with a double. Jordan Jankowski came in and gave up an RBI triple to Jose Pirela to make it 4-3.
Here comes the rally in the ninth. Tyler Wade and Jonathan Galvez singled. Cave reached on an infield hit when no one covered first to load the bases. Jankowski then walked Noonan to tie the game. After a strikeout, Refsnyder stroked a two run single to give the Yankees the lead.
Kent Emanuel came in for the Astros and gave up a three run homer to Bird to put the game out of reach.
The Yankees host the Washington Nationals tomorrow afternoon at 1:05. Adam Warren will make his second spring start against Doug Fister. You can watch the game on YES.
