Yankees News: Gonzalez Germen Traded To Rangers
By Jason Evans
Gonzalez Germen we hardly knew ya. Per the Yankees themselves, they traded the recently DFA’d right-handed reliever to the Texas Rangers for cash.
Germen was DFA’d by the Yankees back on January 13 when the Yankees acquired right-handed reliever Chris Martin for cash. The Yankees acquired Germen from the Mets back on December 19th for cash. (Hey maybe they made a profit)

Germen was facing an uphill battle in making the Yankees roster with all the options they have for the bullpen.
Germen had a 4.75 ERA but a 5.57 FIP with the Mets last season. Germen struck out 31 in 30.1 innings, but gave up 30 hits, walked 14 and gave up 16 runs in the same time frame.
He pitched much better in AAA Las Vegas, going 3-1 with a 2.38 ERA in 18 games. He struck out 21 in 22.2 innings pitched but again allowed more baserunners than innings pitched with 20 hits and 10 walks.
Germen has a great opportunity to earn a spot in the Ranger bullpen.
