YGY Radio Rewind: Yankees’ Hitting Coach Discussion

facebooktwitterreddit

On this episode of the Yanks Go Yard Radio Show, brought to you by KNODA.com, I started off the show by giving my thoughts on the Yankees adding Jeff Pentland and Alan Cockrell to be the hitting coach and assistant hitting coach, respectively. You will hear why I like those moves as well as the addition of Joe Espada to third base coach. Plus, I give my reaction to the Yankees signing Ivan Nova to a one-year deal, thus avoiding arbitration.

My first guest on the show was Robert Casey, the founder of Bleeding Yankee Blue. In addition to further discussion on the hitting coaches, Rob and I discuss the interest the Yankees have shown in Johan Santana, should Max Scherzer still be on the Yankees’ radar, and more reaction to Alex Rodriguez in terms of does he owe the media and fans an apology? Plus, do the Yankees need a Scherzer or James Shields to still win the AL East?

More from Yankees News

After Robert, I was joined by Jed Weisberger, a correspondent for MLB.com and editor at Pinstriped Prospects. Jed and I gave a rundown of the Yankees’ minor league coaching assignments. With Tony Franklin going to manage the new rookie affiliate in Pulaski, hear what kind of impact that could have on Yankees’ prospect Jorge Mateo. Plus, with Marcus Thames going to Scranton to be the AAA hitting coach, does that mean that Rob Refsnyder could start the year in the minors? Jed and I also talk about Mason Williams, Luis Torrens, and much more on the new minor league coaches.

Finally, Kyle Rogers, the co-founder of KNODA joined me to recap the year in review for KNODA in 2014 and he gave us an idea of what to expect from the site in 2015. In addition to talking about Kyle’s thoughts on the Kansas City Royals’ offseason, we were able to look at what some of the KNODA users are predicting as the landing spots for Max Scherzer and James Shields?
