Yankees Re-Sign Slade Heathcott

It looks like Ricky Keeler was right on with his prediction regarding Slade Heathcott. When Heathcott was non-tendered, Ricky thought he would re-sign. Turns out he was right. Heathcott re-signed with the Yankees yesterday, getting a minor league deal with an invite to Spring Training.

More from Yankees News

Heathcott only played in nine games last season and only played in over 100 games just once in his minor league career. What the re-signing does is that it keeps him in the organization and resets his options since he isn’t on the 40 man roster.

The 24 year old will find himself in AA Trenton again, looking to get back to top prospect form.

Heathcott was picked with the 29th overall pick, a pick they got when they failed to sign Gerrit Cole. The Yankees were planning on drafting Mike Trout with that pick, but then the Angels used the pick they got when the Yanks signed Mark Teixeira to draft Trout.

Oh what could have been.
