The Yankees Need to Make Some Resolutions

As we bid farewell to 2014 and look forward to 2015, it’s time to make our New Year’s Resolutions. The Yankees have a few things to resolve and hope for in the coming year:

More from Yankees News

For Joe Girardi, it’s time to go to the binder less, to trust the players and your gut more. No one has told you this, but three straight years with no playoffs will get you fired in this town.

For Brian Cashman, it’s time to forgo the quick fix and rebuild the farm system. The most important thing to do now is to try and find the next Core Four.

For CC Sabathia, find someone or something that will bring his body back to normal. Maybe less Capt’n Crunch and more burgers?

For Brian McCann, just try to hit a ground ball to third base with no one on and the defense shifted.

For Carlos Beltran, a healthy second season in the place that he always belonged and the chance to go out on top. This may not mean he stays with the Yanks.

For Dellin Betances, to develop a change up to go with the dominant fastball and devastating curve to become utterly unhittable.

For Brett Gardner, to get the recognition you deserve in the Gold Glove voting by hitting better. If he learns to strikeout less, he could be a .300 hitter.

For Masahiro Tanaka and Michael Pineda, resolve to make no trips to the DL and show what is really possible. The Yanks desperately need the number 1 and 1A starter you both can be.

For Didi Gregorius, Jose Pirela and Rob Refsnyder, hope they get a realistic chance to succeed and/or fail during the season.

For Mark Teixeira, we wish for the ability to reach back and prove everyone who thinks he’s completely finished, wrong.

For Alex Rodriguez, we hope he resolves to have a long and healthy retirement.

For the Yankees fans, one more glorious spring and summer in the sun, with a contending team – and Max Scherzer wouldn’t hurt either.

Happy New Year!
