Baseball America’s Top 10 Yankees Prospects

facebooktwitterreddit

Baseball America does a great job in covering everything minor league baseball. They are releasing a top 10 prospects list for each team, and yesterday their list for the Yankees came out. Here it goes:

1. Luis Severino

2. Aaron Judge

3. Jorge Mateo

4. Gregory Bird

5. Gary Sanchez

6. Ian Clarkin

7. Rob Refsnyder

8. Jacob Lindgren

9. Luis Torrens

10. Miguel Andujar

First of all, It’s nice to see some guys who are close to the majors on the list. Lindgren and Refsnyder may be there next year. Sanchez is already on the 40 man roster. They must think a lot of Mateo. I’d probably have Bird and Mateo flip flop, maybe even move Mateo below Sanchez.

I think it says a lot for the depth that a guy like Eric Jagielo, who was on the list last year, didn’t make the cut this year. He put up good enough numbers that he could have been at the bottom, but I think it says a lot that two guys they got this past year, Lindgren and Andujar, passed Jagielo.

Also, from last year, Slade Heathcott, Mason Williams, John Ryan Murphy and Gosuke Katoh are not on this year’s list. Some of that has to do with performance, but I also think that some of it has to do with the system getting better.

Top 10 lists are fun, and hopefully they continue to produce and become big leaguers in the future.
