Youkilis signed with the Yankees in the winter before the 2013 season with injuries to both third baseman Alex Rodriguez and first baseman Mark Teixeira. He suffered a back injury and spent the majority of the season on the disabled list, hitting only .219 with 2 home runs and 8 RBI in just 28 games. Despite multiple suitors including the Yankees this past off-season, he decided to play in Japan. Again, he suffered injuries and was held out for a solid chunk of the season. Today, he’s decided to end his respectable career. Good luck, Youk! We’ll miss that wacky stance of yours!
