Alex Rodriguez Officially Given Clearance To Return
By Jason Evans
The day after the World Series will be the first day of Alex Rodriguez‘s new baseball life. His suspension will be lifted and he will be allowed to return to the New York Yankees.
By all accounts, it seems like the Yankees will welcome A-Rod back with open arms. There are certainly questions that surround A-Rod. How healthy is he truly? How much can he play third? What kind of hitter will we see? When last we saw him back in 2013, A-Rod hit .244 with seven homers and 19 RBI in 44 games.
In August of that season he hit .280 while in September falling off to .203. He also had, surprise surprise, leg issues that impacted his output.
Rodriguez isn’t playing winter ball, which to me isn’t very smart on his part. It doesn’t matter how much you work out, it matters if you are in baseball shape. Can he catch up to the fastball? Can he recognize off-speed pitches? Will his surgically repaired hips allow him to drive through the baseball?
All of these questions will be answered in February and March. All we can do is speculate until that time comes.
