Yankees Lose In Walk-Off Fashion Yet Again

The Yankees bullpen has been the anchor of a rudderless ship all year. That anchor has begun to show rust as the Yankee ship has sunk. Tonight was the Yankees fourth loss in five games and three of those in a walk-off variety as the Yankees lost to Tampa Bay 1-0.

The Yankees had an opportunity to score in the second with second and third and no one out, but strikeout, pop up, fly out, inning over. In the seventh, Ichiro Suzuki doubled and John Ryan Murphy walked but pinch-hitter Brian McCann flew out to end the inning.

Chris Capuano and Adam Warren combined to hold Tampa to just two hits over the first eight innings. Capuano walked four, and it was a much better showing then his last start against Tampa when he didn’t even make it out of the first inning.

Shawn Kelley came in for the ninth.

With one out, Logan Forsythe and James Loney singled. After a strikeout, Matt Joyce walked to load the bases. Ben Zobrist then lined a single to right to end the game.

The Yankees have scored six runs in their past five games. Can’t win if you don’t runs on the board.

Game two of the series is at 7:10 tomorrow. Michael Pineda will face Jake Odorizzi.
