Yankees Win Streak Ends With A Whimper

Even throughout the five game win streak, the Yankees offense still wasn’t clicking that much except for last night. They just improved with RISP. Tonight they could only muster two solo homers from Jacoby Ellsbury as the Yankees fell 5-2.

Brandon McCarthy didn’t have his best control tonight. In the second, J.D. Martinez led off with a single. A walk and a hit batsman loaded the bases and then Rajai Davis walked to make it 1-0.

In the third, Miguel Cabrera doubled, moved to third on a groundout and scored on another single by Martinez.

The sixth saw Victor Martinez single, J.D. doubled. Nick Castellanos drove in a run with a single and Alex Avila‘s double play brought home run number four.

In the seventh, Davis doubled, went to third on a groundout and scored on Torii Hunter‘s single.

The Yankees had the same amount of hits as the Tigers, but never mounted a consistent threat.

The Yankees look to start a new streak tomorrow as rookie Shane Greene will take the mound against David Price at 7:05.
