Pitching Matchup

The Yankees will send Chris Capuano to the mound, who is still looking for his first win in pinstripes. Capuano will enter tonight’s game with an 0-2 record and 3.60 ERA.

He will be opposing pitcher Brett Oberholtzer, who has put up a 4-8 record and 3.87 ERA.

Capuano didn’t have a bad outing at all in his last start, but the Yankees just couldn’t get their bats going against the first place Baltimore Orioles. In his start last Sunday, he went six innings, giving up four runs on six hits. Capuano hasn’t had a bad outing since joining the Yankees, but it looks like he hasn’t been able to pick up a win because he is always pitching in tight games. Hopefully the Yankees will be able to break out the bats for him, and give him a comfortable enough lead to give him his first victory.

Oberholtzer on the other hand is coming off of an incredible start. When he faced the Twins this past Wednesday, he gave up just one run on seven innings. The Astros have the same problem, as they took the loss because of the offense not being able to push across a couple runs for him. In fact, he has been hot in his last few starts, and it seems like getting to him early is the way to beat him.
