Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders (62-66) defeat Pawtucket Red Sox (71-58) 6-5
It may be the Minor Leagues, but it’s still a Yankees Red Sox rivalry! Matt Tracy started and allowed five runs in five and two-thirds innings. The rest of the team would not be discouraged, as the offense put up five runs in the ninth, to take the lead before Edgmer Escalona came in to record his fourth save. The rally started when Taylor Dugas walked and moved to second on a wild pitch. Corban Joseph would double him in. That would be followed by a walk from Carmen Angelini and a single by Rob Refsnyder to load the bases. A passed ball scored Joseph. Two more walks would force in the tieing run. Zelous Wheeler‘s line-drive single would give the RailRiders the lead.
Scranton/Wilkes-Barre looks for the four game sweep of their rivals on Monday. Manny Banuelos (1-0, 1.80 ERA) takes the mound for the RailRiders and faces off against Edwin Escobar (0-0, 1.89 ERA). First pitch will be at 7:05. Banuelos is looking for another strong outing. He has a great first start for SWB, going five shut-out innings and striking out four.
