TRIPLE-A

Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders (60-66) defeat thePawtucket Red Sox (71-56) 4-1

The RailRiders opened up their series with the Red Sox on a high note, as they were able to put on a great pitching performance. Scranton carried the lead of a score of 4-0 until the bottom of the sixth, until Pawtucket found a way to squeeze a run across the board. Besides that, the RailRiders were the stars of the game from start to finish.

Familiar starting pitcher Bryan Mitchell picked up the win, as he pitched five innings, and gave up with four hits without letting a run score. Edgmer Escalona was able to pick up his third save of the year, as he pitched one scoreless inning in relief. Zelous Wheeler had a productive night at the plate, going 3-for-4, with one of those hits being a two run homer. Carmen Angelini had a two run home run as well.

Scranton will continue this series at 6:05 PM. Nik Turley will get the start, as he comes into the game with a 2-2 record and 5.58 ERA.
