This week in Staten Island Yankees’ baseball was all about on-the-field honors, but marred with Mother Nature creating a small dent in the team’s playoff push. On the team’s scheduled six-game road trip, the team went 3-2. Unfortunately, for the Baby Bombers, Monday’s game against the Mahoning Valley Scrappers ended up not counting when the game got postponed with Staten Island up 7-3 in the top of the third inning.

Staten Island also caught a bad break on Tuesday night when the team’s opening game with the Connecticut Tigers also got postponed. The two teams will begin their three-game series with a doubleheader on Wednesday night, beginning at 6:00 PM ET. The next six home games with Connecticut and the Tri-City Valleycats are crucial for Staten Island. The Yankees (27-29) are 3.5 games behind the Tigers in the Wild Card race with 19 games left in the season.

As for the on-the-field honors, Staten Island had four position players selected to next Tuesday’s All-Star Game in Brooklyn, New York. Luis Torrens, Isaias Tejeda, Ty McFarland, and Connor Spencer all will be representing the Baby Bombers on the South team during this event.

Before Staten Island’s own Dillon McNamara takes the mound in Game 1 of the doubleheader, let’s take a look back at the week that was with my top five players of the week:
