Game Overview

The Yankees and Tigers will play the final game of what has been a rigorous four-game series in a matinee that is set to begin at 1:05 PM.

The Yankees were once again tested last night, as the Tigers sent out yet another ace, Justin Verlander. With the help of Brian McCann and Chase Headley going yard, the offense was able to come alive, and eventually chase Verlander out of the game. They then continued to pile it on against reliever Blaine Hardy, and were able to win the contest 5-1.

Last night, the Yankees were finally able to break their 16-game streak in a row that was decided by two runs or fewer. Lucky for them, they will not be facing another ace in today’s ball game, which gives them every opportunity to score more than two runs throughout the game.

Today’s game will mark the fourth game of an eight-game homestand. The Yankees come into this game with an even 27-27 record at home, and have a 2-1 record so far on this current home-stand.
