5. RHP Conor Mullee (2-1, 2.01 ERA)

With Mullee heading down to Charleston, I wanted to get the chance to talk about how reliable he has been in the bullpen this season. One of the game I saw Mullee pitch was on Saturday night against Auburn, when he recorded a six-out save to get the only win in the series with two strikeouts. With 4.2 innings of relief this past week, he gave up no earned runs (two runs) on two hits with four strikeouts.

The 24th round pick in the 2010 MLB Draft had been one of the team’s main strikeout pitcher, with his 28 strikeouts being third on the team. He had a previous stint in Staten Island back in 2012 when he appeared in six games with a 3.60 ERA. He’s a reliever who had arm issues in 2011 and 2013, but the St. Peter’s alum is allowing hitters to bat just .192 in the Penn-League this year. He can come in a for a variety of situation with the two saves he has this year. With the improvement from a 3.86 ERA in June (five games) to a 1.35 ERA in July (eight games), Mullee will look to build on his progression with Justin Kamplain at the next affiliate.
