Is it absurd to think that a kid that was drafted a little over a month ago can be ready for the bullpen amid a heated AL playoff race? Of course it is, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t plausible. The 5’11”, 180-pound left-handed reliever has had a mere eleven game career thus far for the Baby Bombers, but he has been on the move since day one.

Lindgren struck out two in his one inning debut for the Gulf Coast Yankees and quickly left Rookie Level ball for Low-A Charleston. After just five innings, his first career win, eleven strikeouts and no walks there, Lindgren was told to head to High-A Tampa. There he hurled 7.1 innings without allowing an earned run while picking up 17 more strikeouts. He then shipped off to Trenton where we all await his debut.

The Yankees dumped their left-handed specialist Matt Thornton. They brought in Rich Hill to replace him… for now. Hill is a 34-year-old journeyman for a reason. If Lindgren continues his climb successfully over the next few weeks, it wouldn’t be totally surprising to see him pitch a third of an inning every other night in pinstripes.
