Players to Watch
Like always, Brett Gardner is a player to watch. After winning AL Player of the Week last week, he continued to hit the ball by going 2-for-4 in the first game of the series. He was hitless last night, and although he is a .217 hitter off Verlander, look for him to stay hot.
Derek Jeter’s career batting average against Verlander is an astonishing .364. He’s gotten a base hit in each of the last 5 games and will likely continue that streak tonight.
Miguel Cabrera and Victor Martinez are two players to watch for the Tigers. Cabrera is 9-for-23 with 4 home-runs off Capuano and Martinez has also gone yard off him this year.
