Overview

The Yankees beat the Red Sox 8-7 on Sunday night to win the series two games to one.  They will now take on the vaunted rotation of the Detroit Tigers in a four game set at Yankee Stadium.  The Tigers will have Max Scherzer, David Price, Justin Verlander and Rick Porcello all take the mound against the Yankees in a series in which runs may be hard to come by.  It will be up to the Yankees makeshift starting staff to limit the high-powered Tiger offense, led by two-time reigning MVP Miguel Cabrera, and keep the Yankees in the game.  That starting staff got even weaker on Sunday as David Phelps had to leave the game with elbow soreness and was placed on the 15 Day DL today.

The newest trade deadline additions to the Bombers will also be heading for their first games in Yankee Stadium while wearing pinstripes.  Martin Prado, Stephen Drew, and Esmil Rogers will all make their home debut during this series.  Prado and Drew are in the starting lineup tonight playing right field and second base respectively.  Rogers, who pitched brilliantly out fo the pen on Sunday night, will probably not be available out of the pen tonight but should get into a game or two over the course of the series.
