Brett Gardner Wins Player of the Week

Brett Gardner has been awarded American League Player of the Week according to Mark Feinsand (@FeinsandNYDN). He went 11-for-23 with five home runs, three doubles, seven RBI, and eight runs in 7 games. His .478 average on the week included a 3-for-4 game in a come from behind win against the Red Sox last night. He hit a home run and had 3 RBI in the 8-7 win.

 

Gardner has been the most consistent player for the Yankees this season. He leads the Yankees in BA (.284), Runs (70), and OPS (.830).

The Bronx Bombers look to ride their 2-game winning streak against the Tigers in a 4-game series that starts tonight. Brandon McCarthy (6-10, 4.56 ERA) and Max Scherzer (13-3, 3.27 ERA) will face off at 7 ET.
