Yankees’ MiLB Roundup for August 1st: Adonis Garcia Sparkled At The Plate
It was a pretty good night for the Baby Bombers, as they posted a 5-2 record throughout the leagues. Here are the recaps.
TRIPLE-A
Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders (55-58) defeat the Gwinnett Braves (50-63) 7-2
It was a good night all around for the RailRiders. They received some good pitching from Bryan Mitchell, who went five solid innings, giving up two runs on seven hits. Adonis Garcia had a memorable night at the plate, going 3-for-4 with 3 RBI. Scranton will begin a series with the Syracuse Chiefs at 7:05 PM. Chris Leroux will get the start for the RailRiders, coming in with a 3-2 record and 4.46 ERA.
DOUBLE-A
Trenton Thunder (55-59) defeat the Portland Sea Dogs (71-43) 5-1
The Thunder received some great pitching, as they were able to top Portland. Manny Banuelos got the win, as he went five innings, giving up one run on just one hit. Tyler Austin had a great night at the plate, going 3-for-4 with an RBI. Trenton will continue its series with Portland, with first pitch at 6:00 PM. It has yet to be announced who will be the starter for the Thunder.
SINGLE-A
High-A
Tampa Yankees (54-57) defeat the Jupiter Hammerheads (39-70) 6-4
Tampa opened up a four game series with Jupiter on a high note, as they were able to come out on top. Kyle Haynes got the win, as he pitched two scoreless innings. Greg Bird once again had a productive night at the plate, going 3-for-5 with an RBI. The Yankees will continue its series, with the second game set to start at 6:35 PM. The starting pitcher for Tampa is to be determined.
Low-A
Charleston RiverDogs (54-56) defeat the Hagerstown Suns (70-41) 4-2
Good pitching is what got the RiverDogs the victory over the Suns. Luis Niebla got the win, as he went four innings, giving up just two runs on four hits. Michael O’Neill went 1-for-4, and drove in two of the four runs for the squad. Charleston will face off against Hagerstown again at 6:05 PM. Ian Clarkin will start for the dogs, as he comes into the game with a 3-3 record and 3.46 ERA.
Short-Season
Staten Island Yankees (23-25) lose to Lowell Spinners (21-27) 6-3
Staten Island couldn’t figure out their pitching, as they dropped this match up against Lowell. Matt Wotherspoon took the loss, as he lasted only 1.2 innings, giving up three runs on one hit. The Yankees recorded seven hits, with each of them being scattered throughout the lineup. Ty McFarland however had 2 RBI. Staten Island will begin a series with the Auburn Doubledays at 7:00 PM. Jonathan Holder will get the start for the Yankees, as he has posted a 1-1 record and 4.20 ERA this season.
