First basemen and number eight prospect Greg Bird received some good news, as he has now been promoted to join the Trenton Thunder from the Tampa Yankees. Bird will be in the Thunder’s lineup tonight, as he will be batting third and playing first. It is noted that he will be wearing #37.
This season with Tampa, Bird is hitting a solid .277. He has seven home runs this season, along with 32 RBI. He also has 22 doubles in just 75 games played.

Bird made his debut in the professional leagues in 2011 with the Gulf Coast Yankees. He played in just four games, going 1-for-12. Injuries got the best of him in 2012, when he only played in 28 games for the Gulf Coast. That was one of his better seasons, as he posted a .337 batting average with two home runs. Last season, he compiled a .288 batting average with 20 home runs and 107 walks.
