Yankees Tickets Down 20% For Series vs Rangers

n what was a first half filled with mediocre play and two of their most effective starting pitchers taking trips to the disabled list, the New York Yankees have still managed to keep their postseason hopes alive in a struggling AL East. As the season enters its second half this weekend, the Yankees will host the Cincinnati Reds at Yankee Stadium for three games. On the secondary market, the season average for Yankees tickets is $127.02, but each game of the series will see an average price below that number. The series as a whole will be 20.6% below the season average.

7/18 – Mike Leake vs David Phelps | Avg. Price: $102.64 | Get-in Price: $27

The series begins Friday night when David Phelps takes the mound for the Yankees against Reds pitcher Mike Leake. The average price for Friday Yankees vs Reds tickets is $102.64, 19.19% below season average, with a get-in price of $27. Phelps enters Friday’s start at 3-4 with a 3.94 ERA. The Yankees will be sending out a depleted pitching staff over the next several weeks as both CC Sabathia and Masahiro Tanaka are questionable to return this season. Mike Leake, who has been consistent for the Reds through the first half, is 7-7 with a 3.54 ERA this season.

7/19 – Alfredo Simon vs Brandon McCarthy | Avg. Price: $105.67 | Get-in Price: $17

The second game of the series will feature Yankees pitcher Brandon McCarthy against the Reds’ Alfredo Simon. The average price for Saturday Yankees vs Reds tickets is $105.67, the highest of the series but still 16.8% below season average, with a get-in price of $17. McCarthy will make his second start for the Yankees since being traded from the Diamondbacks after allowing just one run in 6 2/3 innings in his debut. The All-Star Simon has been impressive this season, posting a 12-3 record and 2.70 ERA over the first half. The Yankees will also be giving a promotional collectible truck to the first 18,000 fans ages 14 and younger during the game.

7/20 – Johnny Cueto vs Hiroki Kuroda | Avg. Price: $94.37 | Get-in Price: $14

The finale of the series will have Hiroki Kuroda match up against Cincinnati ace Johnny Cueto. The average price for Sunday Yankees tickets is $94.37, the lowest of the series at 25.7% below season average, with a get-in price of $14. Kuroda is 4-4 with a 4.10 ERA while Cueto has continued to improve, going 10-6 with a 2.13 ERA this season. The Yankees will also offer a model 1999 World Series ring to the first 18,000 guests ages 14 and younger during the game.

Following their series with the Reds, the Yankees schedule will have two more home series against the Texas Rangers and Toronto Blue Jays before heading to Texas to play the Rangers at Globe Life Ballpark in Arlington. A road series with the division leading Brewers is next on the Reds schedule following the team’s weekend series with the Yankees.
