Yankees Sign Rich Hill To Minor League Deal

The Yankees continue to stockpile arms in the minor league system. They’ve added another guy to take a flier on and to see what happens. The Yanks signed lefty Rich Hill to a minor league deal and sent him to AAA per Chad Jennings of Lohud.com

Hill was with the Angels most recently and appeared in one game, giving up a hit and three walks. For Pawtucket, the AAA affiliate of the Red Sox, he was 3-3 with a 3.23 ERA. In 39 innings, he struck out 45 and gave up just 29 hits.

This is just another guy the Yankees are taking a flyer on in case he’s needed on down the line and to give the team a fresh arm in the minors. If he pitched well, could he be called upon as another LOOGY? Maybe. I kind of doubt it though.
