Yankees’ MiLB Roundup for 7/16: Tough Day For The Kids

Between All-Star games and rain outs, the Yankees’ Minor League affiliates only played three games Wednesday. The Baby Bombers went 1-2.

SINGLE-A

HIGH-A

Tampa Yankees (45-50) lose to Palm Beach Cardinals (55-39) 3-2

The Yankees got a solid start from Raphael De Paula. He went six innings, allowing three hits and one run. He struck out seven. The offense could not come through, however. Tampa had ten hits, but could only get two runs. Angelo Gumbs had the team’s only RBI and it came on a third inning homer. He also added a triple. Aaron Judge went two-for-four for the Yankees. Tampa will send Conner Kendrick to the mound for Thursday’s 12:05 first pitch against the Cardinals.

LOW A

Charleston RiverDogs (43-52) lose to Lexington Legends (40-56) 7-5

Gabriel Encinas made the start and gave up four runs in two innings. That set the tone for the game. The bullpen would allow another four runs, and the RiverDogs could not catch up. Eduardo de Oleo hit his eleventh home run and Dustin Fowler drove in two. The second game of a scheduled double-header was postponed due to rain. Charleston will resume the series Thursday, with Rookie Davis making the start at 6:05.

ROOKIE

Staten Island Yankees (16-16) defeat Williamsport Crosscutters (17-15) 7-3

Luis Niebla gave up three runs in four innings, but the Yankees’ bats got him off the hook. Devyn Bolasky drove in two and Ty McFarland went two-for-four with an RBI. The Yankees will host the Crosscutters Thursday at 7:00. Jordan Foley will be on the mound.

The Yankees’ Triple A and Double A squads played their All-Star Games Wednesday.
