EDIT: The injury to Masahiro Tanaka’s right arm involved his forearm and has nothing to do with his shoulder.

Last night Masahiro Tanaka pitched his worst game of the season, giving up 5 runs over 6.2 innings, and fans everywhere, somewhat unfairly, wondered what happened to our superhero. Well reports have just come out that Tanaka is on his way to New York for an MRI on his right arm. We do not yet know what the problem specifically is in his arm, but this has the potential to end the Yankees’ season if it is anything serious.

Even with last night’s rough outing, Tanaka owns a 2.51 ERA on the season with 12 wins which leads all of baseball. Tanaka has been trying to adapt to a number of things in the MLB compared to his native Japan from the size and weight of the ball varying, to the schedule being every five days rather than “owning” a day of the week to pitch. Perhaps his arm is having trouble with this adaptation. We will keep you updated at Yanks Go Yard as soon as we learn more.
