The youngsters on the farm had a great day going 4-1 with the exception of  The Staten Island Yankees who were rained out. Here’s what happened down on the farm.

TRIPLE-A

Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders (41-46) beat the Buffalo Bisons (45-41) 4-1

The RailRiders had a good game overall on offense and pitching-wise. Scott Sizemore and Zoile Almonte had RBIs and Sizemore’s 8th inning double was the dagger in the Bisons’ side. Chris Leroux threw 6 solid innings, and Fransisco Rondon came on in relief, and did not give up a run in 1.2 innings and got the win. Diego Moreno struck out two and got the save. Today the RailRiders will take on Buffalo again at 7:05 p.m. Joel De La Cruz will take the mound for the RailRiders. Buffalo’s pitcher is TBA.

DOUBLE-A

Trenton Thunder (40-47) beat the Portland Seadogs (56-29) 8-0

The Thunder shut out the Seadogs 8-0 with an offensive explosion from Rob Segedin. He had 4 RBi on 3 hits, which included a home run. Zach Wilson also had a triple, and 2 RBI to help propel the Thunder over Portland. Matt Tracy who got the win, and Tyler Webb combined for 7 solid innings and the Thunder had 11 strikeouts as a team. Trenton will take on New Hampshire tonight at 7:05 p.m. The pitching match-up will be Zach Nuding for Trenton (3-2 3.28) vs. Casey Lawrence (4-4 3.10)

Tampa Yankees (42-41) Defeat the Lakeland Flying Tigers (43-35) 4-3

Aaron Judge had a big day going 2-for-2 with a homer, 3 RBI, and 2 walks.  Matt Snyder supplied the rest of the offense, going 2-for-4 with a RBI.  Top prospect Luis Serverino had another strong outing, going 6 complete innings without giving up a run, while striking out 6.  Tampa will face Lakeland again tonight at 7:05 p.m. Miguel Sulbaran (1-1, 2.86) will take the mound for Tampa against Edger De La Rosa (4-6 2.59).

Charleston RiverDogs (36-49) lose to the Savannah sand gnats (55-26) 10-5

The Riverdogs had a decent day on offense, scoring five runs, but the pitching let them down. Paul O’Neill‘s nephew, Michael, had a 3-run HR to supply most of the offense. The RiverDogs will take on Rome tonight at 6:35 p.m.. The pitching match-up is to be announced.

Staten Island Yankees 

Staten Island was rained out. They will face the Hudson Valley Renegades tonight at 7 p.m. The pitchers will be Justin Kamplain, who is making just his second start of the season. He has no record or ERA. He will face Oscar Armenta who is 1-0 with a 5.54 ERA.
