Yankees Add Bullpen Help in Jim Miller

The Yankees, whose bullpen has been taxed of late, have announced that they have brought up Jim Miller. Miller is 32-years-old, and has a 2.85 ERA in the minors this year, and also has a win-loss record of 4-2.

“He’s been in the big leagues before,” Yankees manager Joe Girardi said of Miller. “We’re aware of what he can do and we felt that we needed a pitcher today with as much as we’ve had to use our bullpen, and the extra innings last night. He’s the guy we turned to.”

Right-hander Jose Ramirez who gave up the critical hit to Logan Forsythe, was optioned to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre as a corresponding move.

C.C. Sabathia was also moved to the 60-day DL to make room for Miller. This is not because of a setback, and Sabathia is still on track to make his return July 11th, although he will most likely return after the All-Star break.
