The Yankees, whose bullpen has been taxed of late, have announced that they have brought up Jim Miller. Miller is 32-years-old, and has a 2.85 ERA in the minors this year, and also has a win-loss record of 4-2.
“He’s been in the big leagues before,” Yankees manager Joe Girardi said of Miller. “We’re aware of what he can do and we felt that we needed a pitcher today with as much as we’ve had to use our bullpen, and the extra innings last night. He’s the guy we turned to.”
C.C. Sabathia was also moved to the 60-day DL to make room for Miller. This is not because of a setback, and Sabathia is still on track to make his return July 11th, although he will most likely return after the All-Star break.
