The Yankees are looking to gain some more ground in the AL East, as they are set to begin yet another important three-game series vs the Blue Jays tonight at 7:07 PM.
Chase Whitley is going to be the starter for the Yankees, coming in with a 3-0 record and 2.56 ERA. Whitley is coming off his second consecutive dominant start, going five innings, and just allowing two runs against the Blue Jays, with a 7-3 victory on Wednesday. Not only is he looking for his fourth win, but is also looking to pitch deeper into the ballgame.
Marcus Stroman will get the call from the Blue Jays, who sits with a record of 3-2 and an elevated 5.14 ERA. He didn’t last long in his last start, which was against the Yankees last Tuesday. The Yanks got to Stroman early, as he allowed two runs in 3 2/3 innings, on 98 pitches. Hopefully the Yankees offense can repeat the same thing that they did off of Stroman, and chase him early in the game.
Brett Gardner also will be looking to continue his hot streak of hitting, and it seems like Rogers Centre is the perfect place for him to be. This season at that stadium, Gardner is hitting .375 with a home run and three RBI.
