Yankees Select Infielder Vince Conde out of Vanderbilt with pick #272

Vince Conde is a First Team All SEC out of Vanderbilt. The 6’0 short stop is a plus hitter with a strong athletic build, a long powerful swing, and is aggressive to the ball, but has a hand hitch load that leaves him late at times. He has very good bat speed, and shows big power – especially to the opposite field. Conde has plus speed and was graded a 7.03 runner.

Defensively he’s a solid with a simple quick release, strong arm throws carry well and soft hands.  His bat could fit well at the corners if he develops a little more power. In 2014 Conde hit .307 with 4 home runs 44 RBI and 10 stolen bases. He has career numbers of  .274 BA (.307 the last 2 years) 114 RBI and 38 doubles.

Conde most likely projects as a shortstop with his good range and strong arm. He needs to add some muscle and develop more power. All in all, Conde will make a solid prospect who should be able to climb through the ranks of the minors.
