Looks like the Yankees received more exciting news on the injury front as RHP Shawn Kelley is expected to pitch for the Trenton Thunder on Saturday for his first rehab start.
Kelley has been on the disabled list since May 13 with a strained lumber spine. He has thrown a couple bullpen sessions in the last week, but has not pitched in a game. If all goes well tomorrow, Kelley could potentially join the Yankees in Kansas City on Monday in their last game of the 4 game series with the Royals.
The bullpen has really been worked the last few games, and gaining back another arm in the rotation will definitely be a plus.
Shawn Kelley said he’ll throw in a minor league game Saturday. Not sure how many rehab games he’ll need (depends how he feels sat) #Yankees
