Bichette Jr. Takes Home FSL Honors

Another Baby Bomber was given Player Of The Week honors in the minor leagues as Tampa Yankees’ third baseman/designated hitter Dante Bichette Jr. was named the Florida State League Player Of The Week over the course of May 19-May 25.

During this eight-game stretch, Bichette Jr.  hit .357 with three home runs and 13 RBI. This included his weekend series against the Brevard County Manatees, where he had three hits in eight at-bats, two homers and five RBI. Bichette Jr. also had a three-hit, five-RBI performance against the Jupiter Hammerheads last Thursday.

So far, it has been an outstanding season for the 51st pick in the 2011 Supplemental First Round of the MLB Draft. His six home runs are second on the team (behind fellow 3B/DH Eric Jagielo‘s ten homers) and his 30 RBI in 48 games are second on the team, one behind Jagielo. With 18 of his 40 hits going for extra-bases this season, Bichette Jr. is showing that he is a consistent run-producing threat in the Tampa offense.
