Yankees vs Pirates Tickets Available For 13% Below Yanks Season Avg

The New York Yankees are staying in the National League for the week. After finishing up the annual Subway Series with the Mets, the Pittsburgh Pirates are next on the Yankees schedule. The Pirates were a surprise playoff team last season, but have failed to even get over .500 to start the season. Meanwhile the Yankees are half a game back in the AL East a season after missing the playoffs. Yankees tickets are averaging $116.17 for the series at Yankees Stadium, a 13 percent drop from the season average of $134.08.

5/16 PIT Edinson Volquez vs. NYY David Phelps | Avg. Price: $65.58 | Get-in Price: $8

Neither pitcher in this matchup has done much to distinguish them this season. Edinson Volquez hasn’t had a great season since 2008. While his ERA is lower than it’s been in recent seasons, his strikeouts are easily the lowest of his career at 5.19 K/9. It’s no wonder this is easily the cheapest game of the series, despite a reusable tote bag giveaway. Tickets are averaging $65.58, the only game of the series below $100. The get-in price is $8.

Saturday is a keychain giveaway at Yankee Stadium with Charlie Morton on the mound for the Pirates, and Hiroki Kuroda for the Yankees. Kuroda has posted the worst ERA of his career so far at 4.62, as he’s struggled to hold runners on base. Kuroda has never posted an ERA above 4.00 in his career. The average price for the game is the highest of the series at $164.46, and a high get-in price of $30.

5/18 PIT Gerrit Cole vs. NYY Vidal Nuno | Avg. Price: $118.46 | Get-in Price: $20

Vidal Nuno didn’t last long in his last outing. He gave up five runs in less than four innings, and might be headed back to the bullpen soon. Tickets are averaging $118.46 for the game, and there will be a kid’s drawstring bad giveaway for those attending the Sunday matinee. Gerrit Cole has built off his great rookie year for the Pirates, with the only a blemish a 1.03 HR/9 number. But that’s easily the highest number he’s posted at any level, and is helped by a high HR/FB of 14.6%. The get-in price is $20 to see the two take the mound.

The series with the Pirates is one of several games fans can pick as part of the newly available 6-game Flex Packs. All three games are available in Group B.
