Well now, it appears that Ivan Nova wasn’t the only Yankee pitcher to undergo Tommy John surgery this week. The other pitcher the Yankees acquired in the Michael Pineda/Jesus Montero trade, Jose Campos, underwent Tommy John surgery yesterday according to Danny Knobler of CBS sports.

On the plus side, Campos is just 21 years old. On the negative side, he’s yet to pitch above single-A Charleston, and has a history of injuries.

Campos pitched in 26 games last season Charleston, including 19 starts. He went 4-2 with a 3.41 ERA and struck out 77 in 87 innings.

Campos is on the 40 man roster, so expect him to be placed on the 60-day DL, which will open up a spot for the Yankees to add another player.

He had originally been placed on the DL with elbow inflammation, but it turned out it was a bit worse than that.
