Yankees at Astros April 2nd Live Game Thread

After taking it on the chin in the 2014 season opener, the New York Yankees (0-1, 4th in AL East) return to Minute Maid Park tonight to try and even their series with the Houston Astros at a game apiece. Hiroki Kuroda (11-13, 3.31 in 2013) takes on youngster Jarred Cozart (1-1, 1.95 in 2013). The Astros are coming off a 51-win season last year, and are looking to continue the long climb back to contention. The Yankees, after spending close to half a billion dollars in free agency didn’t quite expect to see a lackluster performance such as the one displayed last night.

The only Yankees who have faced the Houston starter Cozart, are Jacoby Ellsbury (0-for-3) and Kelly Johnson (0-for-0, BB). Kuroda is trying to begin the season strong, after limping to the finish line in 2013, going winless in his final eight decisions (0-6). He went 1-0 during Grapefruit League action in 2014, with a 4.76 ERA. The high ERA is a little misleading, as three of his four appearances in the spring were scoreless.

Sit back, relax, and if you can’t listen or watch the game, just refresh your this page periodically as co-editor Billy Brost brings you the live game thread for tonight’s Yankees/Astros matchup from Houston!
